COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Collective Worship is at the heart of our daily life. At our school, we have a strong Christian vision which reflects the foundation of the school.

This vision is lived out day to day through the practicing of our Christian values and these are referenced throughout the school day and beyond our acts of collective worship.

Every half term we explore a different Christian value through our acts of collective worship, and each weekly newsletter has a "thought for the week" which is related to that theme.

Acts of Collective Worship are led by different adults and children alike. Find out more about our Children's Collective Worship Committee here

In 2021 we were awarded a Picture News Impact Award.

Picture News is a resource which we regularly use in our Acts of Collective Worship (see here for more information)

The awards were open to all children (and staff!) who made a positive impact in the world following learning about a story from the news (this could be local, national or international). This could be following a fundraising activity, visiting those in need, producing a presentation/documentary about an important issues or anything else that was done in 2021.

So, we emailed them and told them about our Reading Cushions and this was their reply, “These are just incredible! What a fantastic alternative celebration/idea to celebrate World Book Day! 😊

We’re delighted to let you know that we will be sending across your Picture News Impact Award in the post – you’ll be very pleased to hear that we’ve decided to send you one of our 5 very special Gold Trophy Awards as we think yours is an excellent example of impact.”

In 2022 we were awarded a second Picture News Impact Award.

This time, we told them how the Picture News resource on COP 26 had started our Toilet Twinning journey and then a subsequent act of collective worship later in the year sparked all of our fundraising support for Ukraine.

To find out more, have a look at our Courageous Advocacy page. (Click here)

They said, "As with your previous entry – it’s absolutely fabulous! We LOVE the toilet twinning – what a great idea.

Huge congratulations for you all raising so much for Ukraine too"

We have been asked to be a Picture news Advocate School.
